The Children’s Christmas Pageant which was held during worship on December 18 was enjoyed by all.  Twenty-three people participated.            “It went well.  I was surprised by the good comments.  It was hard work, but meaningful.  I think the children enjoyed themselves.  Parents looked so happy,” said Wonza Lobb.            Wonza was the main force behind this year’s drama.  She wrote the story and staged it with Pastor Ken Lobb, who served as narrator.Wonza prepared all the costumes.  She cut and matched the fabric and sewed for a solid week ahead of time.            “Children have quality costumes now,” she said.            Called “The Birth of the Prince of Peace,” the drama was a Biblically-based story drawing its action from Matthew and Luke’s Christmas story.  The style of the drama was called “costume storytelling.”  That requires no prior rehearsal.  Students who attend on that day act in it on the spur of the moment.  The narrator directs the actors around the sanctuary and cues their spoken dialogue.            Rebecca Carvatt played Mary.  Anthony Sannazzaro played Joseph.  Abby Newsome played the Angel Gabriel.  Paul Rochelle played King Herod.            In addition, Abby sang, “O Holy Night.”  Kevin Mulligan sang, “Star of the East.”            Nancy Gasparetti led the congregation in a special meditation afterward.  The congregation then helped the Magi give presents to the baby Jesus by bringing their offerings and placing them in the manger.

Prayer for Grace (unison)
God of mercy, God of love, we confess we have been less than we can be.  We've been lazy an satisfied with shallow pleasures.  We have failed to dig deeper, toward you, and toward one another.  When you sent Jesus to save the lost, the person you had in mind, i know, was me.  We have ignored your truth and have lived for ourselves.  Lord, forgive us we pray.  (silent confessions...)
Lord, have mercy upon us.  Return us to the path of righteousness for your name's sake, through Jesus Christ, Amen.
